There are several performance upgrades available for your Milwaukee 8 engine. To some it may seem like there where big changes in the new engine from Harley Davidson. While the Milwaukee 8 engines do look a lot different and even sound different than the earlier Twin Cam models, that might be where the differences end. In some aspects the Milwaukee 8 engine design is very comparable to the Twin Cam, but very different in other areas especially pertaining to design. The M8 engine has a single cam and four valves per cylinder unlike its predecessor who had two cams hence the name as well as two valves per cylinder. Harley also increased the cubic inches on the Milwaukee 8 engine to 107”, 114” and even as far as 117” on the CVO’s, now this is where the engines similarities starts to come back.

Twin Cam engines started at 88” then 96” then 103” before finishing up at 110” with the CVO Twin Cam engines. Now the Milwaukee 8 engines started at 107” before quickly going to 114” the very next year of its release. That’s right Harley Davidson did it again. They intentionally left room for improvement on the Milwaukee Eight just like the Twin Cam. Now you can see how you have the opportunity to improve on the performance of your Milwaukee 8 engine.
